CAPA'S SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS
MAY 12, 2025
Congratulations to our two high school scholarship recipients, Sarah Stralow and Paige Leighton! Our scholarship awards senior high school students that are majoring in the fine or visual arts with $1,000 to start off their collegiate academic career. Sarah will be majoring in architecture while Paige will be studying advertisement. Thanks to donations, Paint The Town, and our sponsors, CAPA is able to continue giving scholarships to our future artists as they make their way into college and, eventually, the real world.

PAINT 'TIL THE COWS COME HOME!
AUGUST 1, 2025
We're painting 'til the cows come home! This year, we are hosting our 29th Paint The Town right here in Morrison, IL! Our unique shirt design is inspired by our brand new mural that will be painted in Downtown Morrison. The design portrays an agricultural theme with a colorful cow right in the center! The cow's name is Moonet and she sports colorfully splattered spots. This ideas plays on the culture and community in and around Morrison. As most of our surrounding area is agricultural, our town is also highly involved in the arts. Our design helps to show that to both our hometown as well as visiting individuals from all over! We hope to see you at our 29th Paint The Town on Saturday, September 20th!

CAPA ANNOUNCES STRATEGIC PAUSE OF “PAINT THE TOWN” IN 2026
APRIL 22, 2026
The Children’s Art Preservation Association (CAPA) announces the decision to pause its annual Paint the Town event in 2026 as part of a broader effort to thoughtfully refresh its organizational mission and strengthen its volunteer and sponsorship base.
Paint the Town has long been a cornerstone community event, made possible through the generous commitment of dedicated volunteers and sponsors. In recent years, however, participation and sponsorship have declined, impacting the event’s overall sustainability and limiting CAPA’s ability to fully advance its mission. Proceeds from the event directly support CAPA’s community initiatives, including scholarships, art curriculum assistance, and art-centered beautification projects.
This temporary pause will allow CAPA to build a stronger foundation for the future - reimagining the structure of Paint the Town and developing more sustainable pathways for financial and community support.
Planning is already underway for the return of Paint the Town in September 2027, which will mark the event’s 30th Anniversary. CAPA invites community members to get involved by joining a planning committee or volunteering for the event. Those interested are encouraged to respond via CAPA’s social media channels with their name and contact information.
The Paint the Town Board and the Children’s Art Preservation Association extend their sincere gratitude for the community’s continued support and understanding. CAPA looks forward to welcoming participants back for a vibrant and reimagined celebration in 2027.

2026 STUDENT ART SHOW

MAY 14, 2026
You OTTER not miss it! The annual student art show is one of the best ways the Morrison Community Unit School District ends their school years! Always filled with color and creativity, CAPA and MCUSD invites students, parents, family, friends, and patrons alike to come gaze upon the amazing work from all students of the school district. You are able to see all the projects students get to work on throughout the school year, all the way from kindergarten to 12th grade. Each project and artwork portrays certain skills and techniques that are taught within Morrison's art classes. From learning the color wheel to blending with crayons and oil pastel to sculpting and firing ceramics. It's always a pleasure and joy to see how well our visual arts program is growing each year at this show. Come on by if you get a chance! You won't want to miss it!
